The jurisdiction of Customs (Preventive) Commissionerate, Jodhpur (Hqrs. at Jaipur) extends over the entire state of Rajasthan covering a geographical area of 3.52 Lacs Sq. Kms including 1037 Kms. long international border with Pakistan which extends from Hindumal Kot in Sriganganagar District to Brahamano Ki Dhani in Barmer District.
Prior to 1989, there were only two mixed Divisions (Customs-cum-Central Excise) i.e. at Sriganganagar and Jodhpur with 6 Preventive Posts i.e. at Anoopgarh, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Chohtan and Phalodi which were entrusted the job of curbing smuggling activities on this border.
Subsequently, due to the alarming rise in the incidence of smuggling and narcotics/drug trafficking, Customs formations in this border were strengthened by creating an office of the Additional Commissioner of Customs at Jodhpur on 30.01.1989 and five Customs Divisions, one each at Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Sriganganagar and Barmer with 21 Customs Ranges.
Thereafter, a new Customs Range was created at Udaipur on 10.10.1992. At present, 3 ICDs [viz. Thar, CONCOR and RAJSICO] at Jodhpur, One ICD at Bhilwara, One ICD at Kota , One ICD at Bhiwadi , five Customs Divisions and 14 Ranges are functioning.
A full-fledged Customs Commissionerate, Jodhpur with Hqrs. at Jaipur having jurisdiction over whole of Rajasthan was created on 16.7.1997.
Under the charge of Additional Commissioner, Jaipur there are 2 ICDs [viz. CONCOR and RAJSICO], an FPO, 2 Air Cargo Complexes and One International Air Port functioning at Jaipur. One ICD at Kota and one at Bhiwadi are also in operation.
International flights started operating at Sanganer International Airport, Jaipur between Jaipur-Dubai-Jaipur via New Delhi w.e.f. 12.2.2002. As on date four International flights are in operation.
- Jaipur-Dubai on 3,5 and 7 flight by Air India.
- Jaipur-Sharjah, daily flight started from 12.5.06 by M/s Air Arabia
- Jaipur- Mascat flight on 1,3,4, 5,6 and 7 started from 01.06.07, by M/s Oman Airways.
- Apart from these flights, occasional Non-scheduled/ Tourist chartered flights are also operating at Jodhpur and Udaipur Airports also.
Land Customs Station at Munabao became operational w.e.f. 18.02.2006, consequent upon the opening of the Rail Link between India and Pakistan called Munabao-Khokrapar Rail Link. The train was temporarily discontinued due to incessant rains and floods in Barmer District of Rajasthan and Sindh Province in Pakistan during the period 20.08.06 to 16.02.07. The rail link has again started w.e.f. 17.02.2007.
